RESTRICTIONS
RESTRICTIONS
As a private home boarding facility with limited space, we are not set up to accommodate everyone. If we are unable to take your dog, feel free to contact us if you would like us to refer you to another pet boarding facility that may be able to take you.

Breed
While we believe it is the dog and not the breed that matters, we are unable to accept the following breeds due to insurance reasons: Pit bulls, Staffordshire terriers, rottweilers, presa canarios, wolf-hybrids, cane corsos, chow chows or any mix thereof.
Breed

Large Dogs

Seniors
Having been in business since 2011, some of our dogs are approaching their golden years. We love these dogs dearly and are happy to continue caring for them as long as they are in good health, ambulatory, and we are able to comfortably provide the care that they need. Some dogs hardly show signs of aging even upwards of 12-13 years. Unfortunately the not so lucky ones may have problems with kidney, liver, or heart disease, blindness, deafness, arthritis and more. In our experience, blind and deaf dogs are able to manage quite well in our environment. However there are certain conditions that are too time consuming for us to manage in a multi-dog boarding situation. We will evaluate your dog's situation if and when it gets to that point but please understand that once a dog starts to have problems with incontinence (urinary and/or fecal), you will need to make boarding arrangements elsewhere so he can receive specialized care, perhaps at a veterinary facility or in your home. Also we will be reluctant to take elderly dogs with serious health issues for extended stays. Even in a low or no stress environment like ours, long term boarding can take a toll on older dogs making them more susceptible to illness.

HEALTH
HEALTH
Dogs must be in good overall health and decent physical condition. We will not accept any dog who has had a communicable disease or fleas in the 90 day period leading up to the boarding stay. If your dog is scratching excessively or appears to be sick upon arrival, you will be asked to make other arrangements.

Neutered-Spayed
We may accept puppies up to 9 months old who are not neutered or spayed on a trial basis IF they meet the following conditions: 1. They don't make the other dogs uncomfortable. (Keep in mind that when in-tact males reach about 6 months, very rarely are we able to have them participate in group play). 2. They don't exhibit behaviors typical of in-tact dogs (e.g. mounting, marking, pulling, dominance etc). 3. Females are not in heat. A $10 surcharge will apply to in-tact pups 6-9 months if we are able to take them. (The standard $10 puppy surcharge for pups under 1 year will still apply). All guests over 9 months must be fixed.
$10

Vaccinations
Current Distemper, Parvo, and Rabies (We will accept titer tests with proper documentation). If your dog is due for vaccinations, ideally they should be administered no less than 2 weeks before boarding and not all at once. Please note: Unlike most boarding facilities, we do NOT require dogs to be vaccinated for bordetella (kennel cough). IF YOUR DOG IS VACCINATED FOR BORDETELLA INTRANASALLY (sprayed in nostrils) OR ORALLY YOU MUST WAIT AT LEAST 2 WEEKS BEFORE COMING HERE.
Vaccinations

Fecal Exam
Puppies < 1yr and adult dogs who do not have solid stool must show PROOF OF NEGATIVE FECAL EXAM within the last 6 months.
Fecal Exam

Flea and Tick Free
Dogs must be 100% FLEA AND TICK FREE. Please check over your dog carefully before coming. We are not equipped to handle grooming services or deal with flea problems. We will not accept any dog who has had fleas within the 90 day period leading up to the boarding stay. If we find fleas on your dog upon arrival he will need to be picked up immediately. As a safety precaution, all doggie guests need to be on a monthly flea preventative. We prefer oral flea meds like Nexgard or Bravecto however a topical flea med like Frontline or Advantage is acceptable for non-swimming dogs. If you use a topical flea med, please apply it no more than 3 weeks and no less than 72 hours before the boarding stay. Topical flea preventatives become less effective each time the dogs is exposed to water so by the 4th week, they may not offer adequate protection. Also, the liquid needs to be fully dry before your dog plays with other dogs as we do not want anyone inadvertently ingesting insecticide. Please ensure the product you use kills not only adult fleas but also flea eggs and larvae. Please note: Swimming dogs must be on an oral flea preventative. Dogs recently treated with a topical flea preventative will not be allowed in the pool.
Flea and Tick Free

Hygiene
In order to maintain a healthy environment for our doggie guests, we ask that dogs are bathed and checked over before coming. Don't forget to clean eyes and ears. Please note: During flea season dogs who have frequented high risk areas for fleas e.g. dog parks, hiking trails etc. must be given a FLEA BATH prior to coming. If we are not comfortable with your dog's state of cleanliness, we will take him to a professional groomer to have a bath or have a mobile groomer come to bathe him. Owners are responsible for the cost of the grooming service (plus tip) as well as a fee for transportation and my time. For grooming services in Santa Clarita, we recommend: D.O.G.S.etc. 24886 Apple St. Newhall, CA 91321 (661) 254-1601.

TEMPERAMENT

Friendly towards dogs and people
All dogs must be completely non-aggressive towards dogs and people. We do NOT typically separate by size so it is imperative that dogs are able to get along with friendly dogs of all sizes.

Resource guarding
We are unable to take dogs who are protective over food, toys, people, or other dogs.

Generally speaking, the following types of dogs do not do well at our facility...
1. Dogs with severe anxiety issues. 2. Hyper-active dogs who have a hard time settling down even after being sufficiently exercised. 3. Outdoor dogs who do not know how to behave properly indoors. 4. Dogs who are uncomfortable in the presence of other dogs.

BEHAVIOR

Rough Play
While we encourage dogs to play, extreme roughhousing will not be allowed. Dogs who play too rough will not be invited back.

Mounting
Dogs who have a habit of mounting are NOT welcome.

Potty Habits
Dogs must be fully potty trained and not have a habit of marking in the house. We do not use pee pads in the house. Dogs are given plenty of opportunities to relieve themselves throughout the day. We understand that accidents can happen however if it becomes a recurring problem, you will be charged an additional fee and we will ask that you make other arrangements the next time you need boarding. Please note: We are unable to take dogs who have problems with excitement peeing/submissive peeing. Also, we are unable to accommodate dogs who are uncomfortable going potty in strange environments to the point where they will try to "hold it" rather than relieve themselves when taken out to potty.
